Miles Monster Ride Report & Next Steps

Bandidos Performance Evolution

Athlete: Miles McDonald
Date: March 29, 2026

"Miles has officially closed the gap. To finish within 5.06 seconds of a podium-finishing teammate at a track as high-speed as Rock Creek proves that his training is paying massive dividends."

Head-to-Head Evolution: TTC vs. Rock Creek

Event Category Finish Time Gap to Leader
TTC (March 8) Cat 2/3 Boys 12U 3:12.441 +42.105
Ride Rock Creek (Today) Cat 2/3 Boys 12U 2:35.666 +20.319 50% REDUCTION

The Analysis

1. The "50% Rule" of Progression

At the Trials Training Center (TTC) three weeks ago, Miles was battling a deficit of 42 seconds to the top step. Today, on a faster and more intimidating track, he cut that margin down to 20 seconds. In professional racing, cutting your time gap in half in less than a month is an elite rate of progression.

2. Benchmarking the Team: The "Xavier Gap"

The most impressive stat of the weekend: Miles finished only 5.06 seconds behind Xavier McNamara (2:30.604). Given that Xavier took 2nd place, Miles is now statistically "in the hunt." He has transitioned from a rider who finishes mid-pack to a rider who is knocking on the door of the Top 10.

3. Split Strength: The Start & Finish

  • Split 1 (0:25.933): Miles showed explosive power out of the gate, beating 10 other riders in the opening sprint.
  • Split 4 to Finish: Unlike many competitors who faded on the motorway, Miles stayed tucked and aggressive, maintaining his 14th place position under heavy pressure.

Summary Report Card

Consistency: A+ (Clean run, no crashes in high-consequence technicals)
Raw Speed: B+ (Rapidly approaching Top 10 pace)
Mental Grit: A (Improved rank and gap significantly since TTC)

Generated by an all knowing GOD! Atheists be damned! Leah watch out for that lightning!!!

Performance Evolution: 2025 vs. 2026 | Bandidos Racing
"Last year, you were chasing the pack. This year, you ARE the pack. A 90-second improvement at a track like Windrock is legendary."

DHSE Windrock Strategy: April 12, 2026

1. Practice Recon: "Memory Over Speed"

Windrock rewards the rider who knows where the "High Lines" are. In 2025, the track caught you in the deep trenches. For 2026 practice:

  • High Entries: Enter corners high to stay out of the "perma-grease" mud in the main line.
  • The "Pulse" Technique: Brake hard before the technical rock gardens, then let the brakes go through the rocks. The bike is more stable when the wheels are spinning.
  • The Druid Marker: Use Druid Hall as your target in practice. You are now within his speed bracket. Following a rider of his caliber will show you where the missing seconds are.

2. Race Day Execution: "The Silent Assassin"

You proved at Rock Creek that you have the "Snap" and the "Fitness." Use them to dismantle the Windrock course:

  • The Mid-Section (The Steeps): Stay "Heavy Feet, Light Hands." Let your suspension do the work. This is where you previously lost time—this year, stay off the brakes and trust your balance.
  • The Final 30 Seconds: Windrock’s finish is a leg-burner. Most riders in the 12U/15-16 brackets quit pedaling 100 yards before the finish. Sprint until you cross the beam. This is how you steal a podium spot.

The Target: Sub-4:00 Minutes

Based on 2025 results, the Top 10 lives in the 3:50-3:58 range. Given your current pace compared to Xavier, a 3:55.00 is your reachable target. Achieving this would represent one of the largest YOY (Year-Over-Year) rank jumps in the series.

Windrock Performance Prep

Athlete: Miles McDonald | Target Date: April 12, 2026

With only one park day available before arrival, the focus shifts to Neuromuscular Priming and Strategic Recovery. The goal is to arrive at Windrock with "fresh eyes and heavy feet."

Phase 1: The "Big Chill" (Recovery Focus)

Your CNS (Central Nervous System) needs to reset after Rock Creek to ensure you aren't "flat" for the steeps of Tennessee.

  • No MTBing: Give the hands and forearms a total break.
  • Active Recovery: 15-minute easy spin on pavement (Zone 1) just to flush the legs.
  • Sleep: Aim for 9+ hours. Recovery is where the strength gains happen.
Phase 2: Reflex Sharpening (Home Drills)

Use your driveway to simulate Windrock's technical "jank" without the physical toll of a full trail.

  • The "Slow-Motion" Steep: Find the steepest hill nearby. Practice riding down it as slowly as humanly possible. Focus on balance and brake modulation.
  • Corner Entry Drills: Set up two cones/markers on grass. Practice "High-Entry" lines to avoid the imaginary mud trenches in the center.
Phase 3: The Calibration Day (Single Park Session)

This is your "Wake-Up" call for your hands and suspension.

  • Morning: 3 "Flow" laps to get your vision used to high-speed processing.
  • Afternoon: 2 "Tech" laps. Practice Pulse Braking—heavy braking before the rocks, zero braking through the rocks.
  • The Rule: End the day while you still feel fast. Don't ride to exhaustion.

Preparation Schedule

Days Out Focus Activity
12 - 10 Days Recovery Full Rest / Light Stretching
9 - 7 Days Reflexes Driveway Balance & Manual Drills
6 Days Out Park Day Calibration: 5 Laps Max (Quality over Quantity)
5 - 2 Days Prep Bike Nut/Bolt Check & Mental Visualization
Friday (10th) Windrock Track Recon: "Stop & Drop" to find high lines
WINDROCK MISSION: "Eyes 20 feet ahead. Heels down. Pulse the brakes."
The "Visual Run": Spend 5 minutes every night visualizing the bottom sprint at Windrock. You've proven your fitness at Rock Creek—now convince your brain that the last 30 seconds of the race belongs to you.
